GMC Yukon's History

GMC first introduced the Yukon name in 1993 on a two-door model, but it became a four-door SUV in 1995. This 1995 Yukon had a shorter wheelbase compared to the Suburban and the choice of rear-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. For 1998, the Yukon got a 255-horsepower 5.7-liter Vortec V8. The 1999 model added air conditioning, an AM/FM radio featuring a cassette player, and aluminum wheels. The 2000 model was heavily reengineered, looking more rounded and coming with four-wheel disc brakes. It had a more powerful 4.8-liter V8 and a 5.3-liter V8. By 2007, the Yukon got revised styling and engines to match more modern requirements. It was recently significantly updated for the 2015 model year.
